False Dawn

I thought I’d found a romance

Midst days of endless sun

It was such a big adventure

packed full of sexy fun

too late I saw how stupid

it was, this deed I’d done

as it turned into a nightmare

and I was on the run

I thought I’d found a soul mate

A Yoko to my John

I felt so devastated

When I saw that I was wrong

Like him assassinated

In the middle of my song

Lonely and frustrated

As love’s false dawn was gone

I thought I’d found a future

And it would a lifetime last

But she was like an iceberg

And I sank so very fast

In the end I saw the truth

As I clung on to the mast

I hadn’t found a future

I’d simply lost my past
