Afraid

I’m afraid of crushing failure

Afraid of quick success

I’m afraid that I’ll just cock it up

And really make a mess

 

I’m afraid of harsh rejection

Afraid they’ll just say ‘no’

Afraid that if the answer’s ‘yes’

I’ll swiftly lose control

 

But most of all what scares me

The thing I dread the most

Is never having tried at all

And giving up the ghost
